Starting fertility treatment is a big step, and it’s natural to feel a mix of emotions. We’ve compiled a guide about what to expect during the process at our Fertility Clinic in Dublin.

Step 1: Taking The First Step
Reaching out is often the hardest part, but our caring team at Beacon CARE Fertility is here to guide you.
Simply fill out a few details on our Make An Appointment page. We will be in touch to answer your questions and arrange a convenient time for your consultation.

Step 2: Your Initial Consultation
In your first consultation you’ll meet one of our expert Fertility Consultants. They will discuss your medical history, family-planning goals, and answer any questions you may have.
Your Consultant will typically recommend some basic fertility tests. In many cases, these tests can be done the same day as your appointment.
The cost of a Consultation with one of our Fertility Consultants is €200.

Fertility Tests for Men:
- Semen analysis to check sperm count, motility (movement) , and morphology (shape).
Step 3: Fertility Testing
The following basic fertility tests will often be advised by our experts. These initial tests will help us assess your fertility and create a personalised plan with the best treatment option for you.
Fertility Tests for Women:
- A blood test (AMH) to check your ovarian reserve
- Vaginal ultrasound to evaluate the overall health of your ovaries, uterus, and follicles.
Fertility Tests for Men:
- Semen analysis to check sperm count, motility (movement) , and morphology (shape).

Step 4: Your Personalised Treatment Plan
Once we’ve gathered all the necessary information, we’ll create your personalised treatment plan designed to give you the best chance of success. Every fertility journey is unique, and our individualised approach reflects that. Typical treatment options that may be recommended are:
- IUI (Artificial Insemination) €995: A relatively straightforward, minimally invasive treatment where prepared sperm is placed directly into the uterus at the optimal time to improve the chances of fertilisation. IUI is sometimes recommended for single women, same-sex female couples, or where mild male factor infertility has been identified.

- IVF with ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) (from €5600): A specialised form of IVF where a single sperm is injected directly into an egg. This technique is particularly useful for male-factor infertility, such as low sperm count or poor motility.
- IVF with Genetic Testing (PGT-A) (from €7950): Our gold standard treatment option for women over 35 or those with previous miscarriages. PGT-A helps identify embryos with the correct number of chromosomes, improving the chance of a healthy pregnancy.
Throughout the process, our team will provide clear explanations and compassionate guidance, ensuring you feel confident and informed about your treatment plan and costs.

Step 5: Treatment & Monitoring
During your treatment cycle, we closely monitor your progress with scans and blood tests, making any necessary adjustments to ensure the best outcome.
If IVF has been prescribed, this is an overview of what to expect:
Step 1. Ovarian Stimulation (Approximately 2 weeks)
You’ll take daily medication to encourage your ovaries to produce multiple eggs.
Step 2. Monitoring Scans (Approximately 2–3 visits)
We’ll monitor follicle growth with scans and adjust medication if needed.
Step 3. Egg Collection Day
This is a short, light-sedation procedure at our clinic. Most people return home within a few hours. You will need someone to collect you.
Step 4. Fertilisation & Embryo Development (3–5 days)
Your eggs are fertilised in our state-of-the-art lab, and our team closely monitors embryo development.
Step 5. Embryo Transfer
The most viable embryo is selected and transferred into the uterus with this simple procedure.
Step 6. Pregnancy Test
Around 13 days after the embryo transfer, a home pregnancy test (which we will supply), will confirm if the transfer was successful.

Step 6: Results & Next Steps
At the end of the cycle, we’ll review your results and determine the next steps. If treatment is successful, we’ll support you through the early stages of pregnancy. If further steps are needed, we’ll guide you in exploring additional options.
