LGBTQ+ Options
At Beacon CARE Fertility we have had the honour of helping members of the LGBTQ community grow their family for years. Our caring and dedicated team are vastly experienced and will look after you all the way through your fertility journey.
Fertility Options for Same Sex Female Couples
We will carefully assess your needs and agree on the most appropriate treatment plan for you. Your treatment plan may incorporate either Intra-uterine Insemination (IUI), IVF, or Reciprocal IVF.
What Is IUI (Artificial Insemination)?
IUI is relatively straightforward fertility treatment that involves directly inserting concentrated sperm into a woman’s uterus during the most fertile point of her cycle .

What Is Reciprocal IVF (Shared Motherhood)?
Reciprocal IVF (also known as Shared Motherhood or Co-Maternity) involves collecting eggs from one female partner and the other female partner carrying the pregnancy following an embryo transfer.
The embryos are created using donated sperm. This process enables one partner to be the genetic mother and the other partner to be the birth mother.
Beacon CARE Fertility was the first clinic in Ireland to offer this treatment to same-sex female partners.
Choosing Your Sperm Donor
We realise that choosing a sperm donor is a very personal decision, and you can count on us to give you lots of support. We use the European Sperm Bank, and donors must be chosen from this source. Members of our lab team are always on hand to assist you before you make your choice.
The European Sperm Bank is synonymous with high-quality sperm; they deliver very high standards and thus a good chance of success. To date, the European Sperm Bank has helped more than 10,000 families grow.
