IVF with Genetic Testing (PGT-A) is a highly specialised IVF option that may be recommended for women over 35.
PGT-A is a highly specialised test that helps us to identify the chromosomally normal embryos with the greatest potential for pregnancy success.
It may also be recommended for those who have had repeated miscarriages or failed IVF attempts.
PGT-A can be helpful for:
Woman Over 35 Years Of Age
The most common factor for difficulties conceiving is female age. This is due to the increased rate of chromosomal abnormalities in eggs (and subsequently embryos) as a woman’s maternal age increases.
By using PGT-A to screen embryos, we can select the chromosomally normal embryos for transfer.
This can significantly improve the chance of a successful pregnancy per transfer, especially for women over 35 years of age.
Repeated Miscarriages Or Failed IVF Treatments
One of the main reasons for miscarriage and IVF failure is chromosomal abnormality. PGT-A screens embryos to assess whether they have the correct number of chromosomes.
By identifying the embryos without chromosomal abnormalities for transfer, we can reduce the risk of miscarriage and improve the chance of a successful pregnancy per embryo transfer

How is PGT-A Performed?
1. PGT-A is a highly specialised procedure whereby a few cells are removed from each embryo and sent to a genetics laboratory for testing.
2. The embryos are then frozen until the results are ready.
3. Once the results are received, chromosomally normal embryos will then be considered for transfer, one at a time.
